OUR PEOPLE

CHAD HENDERSON
Managing Attorney
Chad was born in Thomasville, Georgia, but grew up in Orlando and attended Florida State University.  He graduated from Emory Law School in 1997, and also earned his M.B.A. from Emory’s Goizueta Business School.
Henderson Legal is Chad’s second independent law firm. The first was a solo practice he managed from 2001 to 2004, in between positions with attorney Patrise Perkins-Hooker and the law firms of Weissman, Nowack, Curry & Wilco, P.C., and Ganek Wright Minsk PC.  Chad focuses his practice on commercial real estate development and investment, real estate and business transactions, corporate and partnership formation, and advising condominium and homeowner associations.  He also counsels small businesses and start-ups, with an emphasis on Georgia’s growing film and TV production industries.
In addition to practicing law, Chad has taught law, business and real estate courses since 2000, as an adjunct professor in Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business.  Chad also serves on several civic and nonprofit boards.  He is the immediate past chair of the Real Property Law Section, which at 2,700+ members is the largest section of the State Bar of Georgia.  He is licensed to practice law in Florida and Georgia.  Chad lives in Druid Hills with his wife and their four children.
ARTHUR LEE MEADOWS, JR.
Attorney, Of Counsel
Lee was born and raised in the South Georgia farming community of Lyons.  He graduated with honors from Mercer University, followed by graduate study at the University of Georgia, where he earned his law degree in 1982.
In the early days of his practice, Lee helped introduce the modern use of direct agency title insurance to rural lending agencies and banks, and eventually became regional counsel for a national title company.  As a lobbyist for the non-conforming loan industry, Lee worked closely with various legislative elements in the structure and amendment of the Georgia Residential Mortgage Act, and continued in that role as an active member of GRECAA (Georgia Real Estate Closing Attorney's Association), where he served on the board and acted as liaison with the Georgia State Bar.  In 2008, with the rise in title claims and the need for title curative services, Lee began work with Pendergast & Associates, a regionally recognized default services firm.  There, servicing Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and various national and international insurance, banking and investment firms, Lee became well known as a knowledgeable sounding board and the source of practical advice in title cure.  Currently, Lee’s practice also includes residential and commercial closings, coupled with a broad spectrum of services for individual and corporate clients, including wills, trusts and estates, business matters, portfolio transfer, land development and finance.
Lee has served on the Midtown Atlanta land use planning and zoning committee for two decades and has participated in a number of other civic and charitable endeavors.  He remains close to his family in joint management of their ongoing South Georgia forestry business.  Lee’s idea of the best of days is one reading a great book in the cool of the mountains of North Carolina or one working on his Dad’s fishing shack on the Georgia coast.
VALINDA JOHNSON BROWN
Post-Closing / Title Paralegal
Prior to joining Henderson Legal as its post-closing and title paralegal, Valinda’s legal/real estate experience included over 30 years of involvement in extraordinary and expansive City of Atlanta projects.  She served as an acquisition/relocation officer and property manager for MARTA, assisting with acquisition of properties for MARTA’s transit construction and development.  She later served as a paralegal for the Atlanta BeltLine in its acquisition of properties and easements for the development of what is now a nationally-recognized and award-winning transformative project that has constructed greenspace, parks, trails, and transit connections encircling Atlanta’s communities.  Prior to that, she was a pre-closing and post-closing real estate paralegal with one of the most prestigious, historically African American law firms in the country, Arrington & Hollowell, whose name partner, Donald L. Hollowell, served as lawyer for Martin Luther King, Jr. during the civil rights movement.  She also served as real estate and title policy paralegal for Patrise Perkins-Hooker, who was only the third woman and first African American to preside as president of the State Bar of Georgia.  Valinda brings a wealth of experience in the areas of legal and real estate acquisitions and all matters related to the transfer and insuring of title, as well as community and political understandings related to the integrity of property title and transference.
BEVERLY BAPTISTE
Real Estate Paralegal
Henderson Legal, LLC brought Beverly on board as its real estate paralegal in 2017.  She brings over 20 years of real estate transactional experience to the firm.  Beverly previously worked at the law firm of Patrise Perkins-Hooker & Associates as a real estate paralegal, handling hundreds of closings involving all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions.  Beverly also brought with her the experience of working on the lender side of real estate transactions while employed with Citizens Trust Bank as a liaison between commercial loan officers, loan transaction applicants, community development agencies, mortgage companies and law firms, creating relationships that followed her to future legal and real estate employment.  In addition to pre-closing and post-closing real estate work, Beverly has handled the ordering and review of necessary transactional documents such as surveys, titles, financial statements, insurance policies, and quarterly reports, helping to move forward the consummation of a variety of transactions over the years.   She also previously served as real estate paralegal at The Stanley Law Firm where she expanded her legal experience into estate planning, wills and trusts, and probate matters.
